Ken’s Barber Shop in some golden winter light
A few years ago, I read a poll done about the loyalty of men. At the top of the list was the loyalty to one’s barber. Most men stated they would far prefer to change doctors than barbers. I’ve been with my barber for 28 years now and the visits are much like a long running movie where you just see brief snippets of a life. I’ve ‘watched’ his kids grow through t-ball, high school sports, then into college, and finally entering life with job searches. Now they work in the community with significant jobs in health care and education administration. I wouldn’t know them if they stood beside me in the store but if introduced, I can tell an abbreviated life history. A barber is like being a bar tender for the rest of us.
