This was the scene last Friday night at Carter Caves State Resort Park in Carter County, Kentucky. We had driven out for dinner and then was reading some in the front porch chairs when the weather radio app starting going off again and again. The park was in the path of 70 mph winds. First thought was to outrun it but, no, we could already see the clouds. Like much of West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky, the storm was fast and furious and took down the electricity at the very beginning. The campground and pool was evacuated to the lodge lobby where the space filled up with kids and dogs.
