Wildflowers and Sun

Wildflowers and Sun

Carter Caves State Resort Park
Carter County, Kentucky

I had planned all week to attend the OVCC camera club meeting but the week hasn\’t been a kind one and so found myself driving to Carter Caves in search of some wildflowers and quietness last evening.  Actually, the orientation of Carter Caves makes it more of a morning photography area so first we had to seek out some sun.  Found a short patch beside the road, maybe 25 yards long, and I was more than surprised to find some late season wildflowers there.  The shot was maybe not the best one but certainly was interesting because I spent some time trying to catch some backlighting and then also caught some nice lens flare.   It was a quiet evening, nobody at all on the trails.   The creeks are nearly dry and the water table is very low.  The community spring, located beside of the road with piped water coming from the rocks, is now dry.

Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out
and make some good things happen, you will fill
the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
