Winter trees at Carter Caves

 Winter trees at Carter Caves

This scene was pointed out by one of the other photographers I was with this weekend, so I\’ve give out credit for seeing the possibilities with the trees.  I think I mentioned a few days ago that I was invited on a trail walk with a couple of members of our local camera club.  One of the areas we explored was the gorge that contains  Smokey Bridge, a natural arch/cave that extends through the ridge with the trail running across the top.  We had an interesting conversation about seeing shadows and lines, which is about the only thing you can expect to find during this gray time between winter and spring.  The backdrop for this shot was the shear rock wall of the Smokey Bridge that was draped in heavy shadow.  Reminds me of a photo I\’ve viewed somewhere in a book.   I suppose it would be high odds to  hope your monitor is calibrated the same as mine, so your viewing experience may differ quite a lot if your brightness is turned down.
