Recently while visiting a relative who is in rehab, I shot this I phone/Hipstamatic scene in the elevator. Sort of like a public service notice to people who have little choice in the menu. I\’m reading a John Steinbeck book that is presented as a travelogue or journal written when he made a wide ranging trip around the country with his poodle in the 1960s. It\’s a short book that is fairly dated in some ways (such as a reference to elevator strikes causing concern to the common man) but still interesting since you get to see the country through the eyes of a great writer. He travels in a pickup that\’s equipped with a specially designed camper that he outfits to give a non-threatening appearance to the folks he encounters. He carries fishing and hunting gear because it\’s commonly accepted, even admired, for a solitary man to pursue such things, as he says, whereas you would look suspicious otherwise. I\’m a bit shocked to now find that some think many things, if not most of the book was a product of blend of fiction with non-fiction. Fascinating. Read more at Wikipedia.
