Eating outside at the what we call the fancy Taco Bell, we’ve experienced all the changing seasons many times. Usually at the same table until later in the year when the cold and the low lying evening sun makes us retreat to one of the warmer tables on the edge of the dining area. It’s a nice place to go to, even in spite of the fast food fare, usually it’s vacant and you could trick yourself in thinking that you were somewhere special, perhaps at a nice dining area hidden away where nobody has found it yet. Won’t be long until the lady is all wrapped up for winter, or maybe carted away for storage again.
Photographed during a recent bike ride along the river roads.
Yes, more biking photos. I’m off the trails until later in the fall, largely, but you\’ll see photos from time to time.
We had a craft beer festival in town recently, seemed to be very well attended, was interesting and a lot of fun. But where in the world did they get that name?
Over coffee this morning, I was looking over and reliving a great vacation to upper New York.
I bought this fat tired bike to ride trails after having a pretty bad wreck with the other bike. Now I find I really love riding it about town, you get a pretty good workout and all the citizens and drivers wave and give you respect that you don’t always get when you are sharing the road with folks in a hurry to get to Walmart.
Earlier in the month, I met a friend for a very early bike ride at the lake. Armed only with my cell phone, this scene caught my eye as we pedaled toward the trail.
Our local camera group is still doing fine and growing into the 2nd year of activity. Recently a small group visited The Wilds in Ohio. In this photo, Barry examines one of the member prints being passed around for discussion.
Huntington, West Virginia
I’ve posted bike race photos from Huntington in years past, I returned this year to try it again. The lighting in the city during the evening races will test you a bit but I came away with a few shots.
Darryl works at one of the local bike shops, met him when I needed a few things. Very helpful and energetic and so I started following his bike rides through the online apps Strava and Instagram. Then figured out an unexpected link: he’s actually a cousin from my Grandfather’s family and I knew his grandparents. It’s a very small world at time.
The house swallow family returned again this year to occupy the bluebird house that overlooks the garden. The young are about ready to leave the nest. Always on guard, the father is nonetheless pretty tame or brave- difficult to tell the difference. He does get upset and dives at you if you open the box up.
I\’m raising a small vegetable garden this year. The plot next to it had been a wildflower garden sowed by my father in years past. Without any encouragement, it has flourished much better than the vegetables seem to be doing. I\’m not sure what this bug is, but it made a nice picture.

Back in the supposedly simpler times of the 1960s, we used picnic then wade in this creek during the hot summers,
One last shot from the photography group meeting, during our editing session demonstration.
We had our camera club meeting tonight, J Bird Cremeans demonstrated the use of off-camera flash and Photoshop editing for portraits and low light conditions.
The evenings are finally getting longer, look like a bit more than a month till time change. I shot this image on Sunday evening during a short bike ride at the park, after having gotten use to having the place mostly to myself all winter, it was surprising to show up to lots of people in the parking lots. Evidently, the trail runners converged on the park to enjoy a rare warm dry day in the winter.
Another Prisma image, slightly modified.
Having to deal with illness this week, I found myself looking back through old photos from years ago. Here is one of my higher key photos of the spiral staircase taken at the Shaker village just south of Lexington, Kentucky. I believe the date to be June 2010.
